4.22 SHORT -ANSWER QUESTIONS ^
Short-answer questions are set in the form of several sub-questions.. They may be related to- the same topic This type of questions could be based on_a common set of data that may be in the from of written material tables,charts,graphs, or pictures. The testet may "be" asked to relationship the data to recognize valid conclusions, to appraise assumptions or inferences, and the like.
This technique then, measure material process such as
reasoning, creative thinking, problem solving and valid conclusions that were limited in the past entirely to composition questions.
The following example is suitable for advanced learners.
Study these vacancies carefully and then write which job you think the following people should apply for and why. Your answer has to.be in four short paragraphs of about 30 words, each.

(a) Mrs. Steveus is a housewife with two school aged children. She finds it difficult to manage on the money her busband allows her. She worked as a typist for two years before her marriage but bas no other experience.
(b) John Robins is an engineering student at University. He wants to make some extra money during the summer vacation. He has never had aholiday job before
(c) Thomas Brown is a clerk in a large firm. His wife is expecting their first baby and has had to give up her part-time job. Thomas is anxious to improve his position so that his wife does not have to go out to work soon after the baby is born.
(d) Mary Lee is asecretary in asmall export firm. She-speaks French and German fluently and has good secretarial qualifications, but she is .not very happy in her job. She finds her work dull.
